Analyze Plot: Does the story have a strong plot? Is it predictable? Pay attention to little things—a glance, a walk—look for subtlety. Is the Ending Determinate or Indeterminate? Analyze Setting: Describe the setting, paying attention to detail as if you were drawing a picture. What themes are represented (symbolized) by the setting? Analyze Symbolism: Describe and analyze all symbols... there are plenty. Analyze Irony: Discuss Irony of Situation, as well as spoken ironies. Analyze Point of View: How does Point of View affect what we know about the characters and their feelings? Analyze Meaning: Does the story seem to attempt a "moral", simplistic or otherwise? Does the story impart some insight into the human condition, or merely record the aberrant behavior for shock value? What is an overall theme? What other factors should we consider?
